Silkworth Lodge Extreme Team Challenge
Silkworth Lodge is the only residential rehabilitation treatment centre in the Channel Islands to support those with drug and alcohol dependency. Most of their referrals come through Health Agencies and they found they had poor awareness outside of the Health Services.
The challenge was to raise awareness of the charity to the general public, its services and to raise funds. Working alongside the Silkworth management team and Kazz Padidar from Wild Adventures, we decided upon an endurance team challenge - 'Silkworth Extreme Team Challenge'. It would be the first of its kind on the island of Jersey and would inspire people to challenge themselves and work as a team, raise awareness of the charity and attract greater sponsorship.
Taking place in all 12 parishes, to reflect the ‘12 Step’ rehabilitation programme used by Silkworth, 15 teams competed in the event which was a multi-discipline all-day-long, around the Island team challenge.
We created an identity for the event that was impactful incorporating an outdoor worn-in style to make the viewer feel they were already part of the challenge. Graphic elements such as water bottles, footprints and mud splatter marks were also used to suggest endurance and survival. The branding was rolled out across all literature (booking forms, sponsorship forms, course information) and promotional material (Facebook posts, feather flags, wristbands, medals and trophies).
Overall the event was a great success raising £10,000 and creating awareness through the teams it attracted, and the publicity before and after the event. After such formidible feedback September 2015 will see an even bigger event with twice as many entrants.
